Athlore is the name of our emulated Ultima Online server. The server has been in operation almost continually since 1999. This portal contains helpful content for players of the game to aid them in getting the most out of the game and the community. This includes:
  • A monster compendium
  • Maps of the world
  • A calendar of upcoming in-game events
  • Answers to frequently asked questions
  • A variety of game related galleries
  • Forums
  • Private Guild pages
  • Character and player biographies
  • Issue tracking (so in-game bugs and exploits can be fixed)

To get access to the private content on this site, you must speak in-game to a GM so they can create you an account.

Welcome to Athlore!

Supported client versions 7.0.14.0 to 7.0.24.3
The client must not be altered (unencrypted clients will not work)

The server works best with a fully patched client (7.0.24.3 as of this note). All the map shards are fully spawned and nearly every in-game item can be crafted. The game is quite customized and has a leveling system. For more details, check out the table below and the rest of the articles.

Completed features

  • Custom level system
  • Custom masonry crafting skill
  • Custom Imbuing skill lets you add new (or enhance existing) magical properties on equipable items
  • OSI style quest system (plus several custom in-game quests and activities like treasure hunting and champion spawns etc)
  • OSI style combat system (including weapon skills... be careful because monsters can have those abilities too)
  • All maps are fully spawned
  • All creatures from all expansions are implemented (plus many Athlore specific creatures)
  • All items from all expansions are implemented (plus hundreds of custom items)
  • Items you carry can be insured (you will not lose insured items when you are killed)
  • The T2A chat system is implemented (there are other custom chat systems as well)
  • Athlore does not have a Felucca/Trammel concept... There is only one world and it allows player killing
  • The Necromancer character class is implemented, but it is very customized and completely unlike the original
  • The AOS item and magic system is implemented
  • The Elven and Gargoyle races are implemented

Ultima Online history

September 1997 was the last day of the original Ultima Online beta test. The beta ended with a bang, as players were treated to an "end of the world" scenario with Shadowlords, demons, and other evil creatures slaughtering every character in sight. After that, Ultima Online opened its doors to the public. In the years that followed, additional versions of the client were released. This article details the release of those clients, with some notes on what features are implemented in Athlore...

Game commands

There are a number of commands you can use in the game. Some of them are built-in client commands, others are scripted commands, and some are verbalized speech commands. All three types of commands are explained in this article...

Getting started

Getting yourself setup for Athlore is relatively simple. Follow the simple instructions below and you will be online in no time!

The level system

To gain stats (strength, dexterity, or intelligence) on Athlore, you have to gain experience. It is possible to gain experience by killing monsters, or crafting items. Once you have enough experience you will go up a level. When that happens, you will be given specialization points that you can spend to raise your stats. This article explains the level system in great detail...
